The plunger is part of the pump and in use only comes into contact with the seal/packing and the pumped medium. However, if high pressures, highly abrasive or corrosive media or very high line speeds are encountered, the plunger is made of ceramic material. And the ceramic plunger made of different ceramic materials, their application range is not the same.

Ceramic plungers are suitable for most brine, chemical and metering applications. IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) specially formulated ceramic grades achieve a standard 8 RMS surface finish, significantly extending filler life.

IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) ceramic plungers are available in hollow ceramic designs and solid ceramic designs. The IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) adapters are made of durable stainless steel and successfully resist corrosion. The ceramic body is bonded to the stainless steel adapter using a proprietary process for extremely reliable performance in the field.

When corrosion and wear resistance and extended packing life are required, we can take advantage of the excellent properties of ceramic columns. However, ceramic plungers are not optimal for all applications. For example, it is not recommended for pumping hazardous materials.

Ceramic plungers can be used in: hydraulic cleaning equipment; power units in mining; metering pumps (distribution pumps); high pressure pumps for water jet cutting.
